SAN FRANCISCO – March 16, 2018 – We’re excited to announce the newest member to join the JS Foundation, BLOQspace, a grassroots movement focused on fostering the adoption of blockchain and JavaScript through free education and community outreach.

“When I first met some of the folks from BLOQspace, I immediately knew this would be a great partnership,” said Kris Borchers, Executive Director of the JS Foundation. “BLOQspace’s commitment to education and philanthropy in the JavaScript and blockchain ecosystems is directly in line with our mission to support and advance key projects and technologies across the entire JavaScript ecosystem and I am excited to see what we can build together.”

BLOQspace’s commitment to the JS Foundation showcases continued growth of the JavaScript ecosystems in the blockchain, cryptocurrency and online payment spaces. The JS Foundation already hosts the project Interledger.js which enables instant payments and micropayments in any currency, across many payment networks using the Interledger Protocol (ILP). Traditionally, JavaScript has not been the first language developers reach for when they are learning blockchain technologies but just as we have seen in other areas like IoT, that tide is shifting.

“In being a culturally diverse organization, that is centered on supporting blockchain and JavaScript technologies that are open, accessible, and sustainable; we at BLOQspace discovered so many parallels between the mission of the JS Foundation and ourselves, that we found it a natural fit to align paths,” said Brandon McNew, VP of Media Relations at BLOQspace.

“Each day, BLOQspace strives towards fostering blockchain and JavaScript adoption through grassroots community outreach, free education, and philanthropy; in a manner that is fully aligned with the JS Foundation Code of Conduct,” added William Ryan, VP of Community Outreach at BLOQspace. “In going forward, as a JS Foundation member, BLOQspace intends to use this opportunity to not only grow our knowledge, network, and sphere influence, but also to contribute in any way possible to the growth of JavaScript development and the JS Foundation.”

BLOQspace is opening locations around the globe. These locations will be open to all ages and skill-sets with access to JavaScript learning modules and Lisk Academy blockchain education. BLOQspace will be using their own funds to sponsor events, create scholarships, give donations, and fund other projects all around the world where they feel JavaScript, blockchain, and Lisk can fulfill a need.

With the addition of BLOQspace as our newest member, we continue to build support throughout our project ecosystem and evolve the model for sustainable open source JavaScript from a single project focus to an encompassing, umbrella effort across the many projects driving innovation in this space.
